Italy

Such a paradise this country is with its mountains, rolling hills, seaside cliffs and long beaches. I’ve been to many different destinations in Italy and can highly recommend all of them:

  • Amalfi Coast
  • Capri
  • Cinque Terre
  • Dolomites
  • Florence
  • La Spezia
  • Lake Como
  • Lake Maggiore
  • Livorno
  • Milan
  • Naples
  • Pisa
  • Positano
  • Ravello
  • Rome
  • Sardinia
  • Siena
  • Sicily
  • Tuscany
  • Venice

Below is a blog post I’ve written about places in Italy.

Dolomites

The most active vacation I had in Italy was a trip to the northern mountain region called the Dolomites. I had seen pictures of these spiked mountain tips and knew I had to see them for my own eyes. We did several hikes in the region and drove from one hotel to another to experience it all.

Milan

Milan is the shopping capital of Italy if you are looking for name brands and variety. I spent a long weekend there with my daughter Megan to celebrate her turning 18 years old. We walked around, ate delicious food, shopped til we dropped, and did a relaxing fun spa day at our hotel. Oh yes, our hotel was fabulous and very unique. It was a bit pricey but it was a special occasion. The decor inside is unbelievable, especially in the lobby and in the spa. If you ever go there, you MUST check out the Boscolo hotel. It is located conveniently close to the center and the cathedral.

Tuscany

My most recent trip to Italy was in May 2019 for a 3-day weekend photography workshop. We were a small group of 6 people along with our great teacher, Patrik. Check out their services and products at Pixien Photography. We spent the less-than-ideal-weather weekend searching for short bursts of sun and resulting shadows to get that just-right-shot. We did early morning shoots (way too early for this girl!) and late-night shoots (to get car headlight snail trails, very cool). One of the best parts of this trip was that Patrik knew exactly where to take us and the right time of day to get the perfect photograph. Combining travel and your hobby/passion is the best combination! I really enjoyed admiring and capturing the Tuscany scenes.

Here’s my video of the fun and educational trip!

Venice

I’ve been to Venice many times, the last time being 2017 when my mom and brother came to visit. Here are the day-by-day videos of our trip.
