About me
Hi! I’m Jan and happy to see you here! I am a travel enthusiast and I want to share my passion with others! I’m an American born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I lived in Wyoming and Massachusetts before moving to Switzerland in 1993. I was able to travel in the United States while in my 20s, but I have traveled a lot more around the world since moving to Europe. I got the fever, so they say, and have not stopped exploring new places over the past few decades! I have two daughters, Megan and Brianne, born in 1996 and 1997. My partner since 2006 is Mike, from Australia, and he has three children aged 19 to 26. Over the years, we’ve done many family trips with all five kids as well as couple-only trips. See below pics of our family from Christmas 2023.
My background
I’ve worked mostly full-time throughout my life. My career after receiving my BBA and MBA degrees was in Information Technology as a Systems Analyst and Project Manager working with business software application development. In late 2018 after 35 years of working for a few different companies (and the last one for 20 years!), I found myself in an unplanned early retirement situation, somewhat of a shock but a blessing in disguise. I took this as an opportunity to reevaluate what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I decided to pursue my passions, hobbies, and interests in a way that would allow me to work independently and truly love what I do every day.
Why this blog?
My passion is to travel and have new experiences. I’ve visited 60+ countries and many different cities and areas in those countries. I’ve taken many photos and videos of these places and would love to share them on my blog. I love photography (I have a Canon DSLR but use my iPhone a lot as well) and have been making videos for several years now (I currently use Final Cut Pro X software). All photos and videos on my website are my own unless mentioned otherwise. My other hobbies include hiking, biking, exercise/fitness, painting, making crafts, and anything to do with nature and the outdoors. I love all kinds of animals and sunsets are my soft spot. We live in such an amazing world and my mission is to show others just how beautiful it is.
How can I help you?
Part of my site will be dedicated to planning travel itineraries as a service. I love to organize every detail of my vacations, which is a trait probably related to the perfectionist Virgo in me or my many working years in project management. I enjoy coming up with destination ideas, doing research, and planning an exciting itinerary. I’ve used a multitude of different travel agencies, organizations, and methods of traveling, and I feel this is invaluable information to help plan awesome trips for others.
Who am I looking to help? My potential customer is anyone who loves to travel the world but doesn’t have the time or desire to do all the leg work for planning a trip. It can be a lot of endless searching on the internet to find the right places at the right prices. Well, that is where I come in because I love to pull it all together and use my knowledge of the destinations to offer you a custom-made unique itinerary for that perfect holiday! Find out more on my Itinerary Planning Service page and check out my referrals on my Testimonial page!
So, if you’re interested in just reading about my travel adventures through my blog or if you would like me to plan a great trip for you, feel free to check out my website and SUBSCRIBE to my mailing list to not miss any updates. Welcome to JanAdventures and I look forward to sharing the love of travel together!

Hi! My partner and I are also Atlanta GA natives now resididng in Switzerland. We’re traveling from our home in Ollon to Provence and decided to stay a night in Aix-les-Bains. Not knowing the town I decided to do some research and came across your blog. Thank you! I found some helpful tips.

Hi Bert, that is great to hear! I also have some tips on Provence if you are interested. Which dates are you going? You are not too far from me as I live in Chatel St. Denis.

I am curious why you moved to Switzerland? I am Swiss on my fathers side of the family and German on my moms.
Jan
Hi Judy, I met a Swiss man when I was living in the States. Came here for him and never wanted to move away from this beautiful country.
